About Porto Wine Cellar Tours

This site sets the port wine cellar tours of Vila Nova de Gaia next to each other, one house at a time: a 1.5-hour visit to Cockburn's and its cooperage, a self-guided afternoon at Taylor's, a Vintage Room tasting at Graham's for 10 guests, a fado evening at Cálem, and walks that take in 3 houses with 7 ports. Next to them it lists the cellars that sell their own visits, from a €13 walk-in tasting to a €23 visit of 50 minutes. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours. The full line-up sits in the Porto wine cellar tours catalog.

Why It Exists

Every port cellar in Gaia looks alike in a listing photo: casks, a vaulted roof, three small glasses. The listings rarely put the details that decide the visit in one place. Is it a live guide or an audio guide on your phone? How many ports are poured, and which styles? Is there a cooperage, a bottle collection, a fado show? How many people share the group, and how late can you cancel?

Those are the columns of the comparison table here, read off each listing and the cellar's own page.

Where the Figures Come From

Tour prices, ratings, review counts and inclusions come from the listing on the platform that sells each tour. Meeting points and timings come from the listing and, where it is more precise, from the operator's own information. Visit prices and opening hours for the cellars that sell their own visits come from each cellar's own site. Cable car fares come from the operator, and port styles from the IVDP, the institute that regulates port.

When two sources disagree, the page shows both and says which one it follows.

What You Will Not Find

There is no invented guide or wine writer behind these pages, and no claim that anyone from the site joined these tastings. Reviews shown are short excerpts from four and five star platform reviews. A complaint that comes up often, such as a rushed visit or a low audio volume, is written into the comparison with a way around it.

How the Site Is Paid For

The booking buttons are affiliate links to GetYourGuide and Viator. If you book through one, the platform pays a commission and your price does not change. The cellars you can visit on your own earn the site nothing, and they are on the site anyway.

No operator pays for a place, a badge or the pick. The details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
